what is being done to allow ftrmetro to run in Swansea?
Already, roadworks in Swansea City Centre and near to the Civic Centre have been completed. This will allow ftrmetro to be given priority over other traffic, ensuring a smooth flow to and from Swansea. New passenger facilities also are in place at key locations in Orchard Street, Kingsway and Princess Way.
A new express busway has been completed at Hafod which will allow ftrmetro to avoid congestion on Neath Road. The busway also will be used by buses on the Landore Park & Ride service.
The next phase will include infrastructure works in the Landore and Morriston areas. This work is due to begin in Autumn 2008 and will give ftrmetro priority at roundabouts and busy road junctions. Priority measures will also be introduced at Sketty Lane/Singleton Hospital and there will be new customer facilities at Swansea University which will improve the travelling experience.
A new road layout is planned for Morriston Hospital and again, this will ease congestion for ftrmetro and other road users.
