What are the key elements of ftr?
What are the key elements of ftr?
There are two main ingredients to the ftr package, the vehicle and the 'TRACK'. First will operate the ftr services using brand new vehicles manufactured by the Wright Group. Local authorities such as City of York Council deliver the ftr 'TRACK', and have invested in new stopping arrangements and highway improvements to accommodate the ftr, as well as priorities like the new bus lane on Tadcaster Road.
How do traffic light priority systems work? A key element of the ftr package is the real time information system. Each ftr vehicle is fitted with satellite tracking technology that is linked to a central computer. The computer can tell where the ftr vehicle should be and in conjunction with the City of York Council BLISS system it will give traffic light priority to ftr vehicles. This system also gives First an overview of where all the ftr vehicles are at any given time. Customers are also able to use their mobile phones to check when the next ftr is due at their stop, again thanks to the BLISS system.
